- Who is the computer?
- The computer is Stockfish, a free chess engine. It runs in your browser as a separate program. Nothing is sent to a server. You pick Easy, Medium, or Hard. Hard is still far stronger than most players.
- Do I need to open-source this site to use Stockfish?
- No. Stockfish is GPL-3.0. That license covers the engine files in /engines/stockfish/, not the rest of DeckGames.io. The engine source is at github.com/nmrugg/stockfish.js and github.com/official-stockfish/Stockfish. The license text is at /engines/stockfish/Copying.txt.
- Can I play as Black?
- Not yet. You play White. The computer replies as Black. Undo takes back your last move and the computer reply.
- Do I need an account to save my stats?
- No. Games played, win rate, streaks and best times are stored in your browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded and there is nothing to sign up for.
